Week 4 of the NFL season is officially underway after the Seahawks beat the Cardinals on a walk-off field goal on Thursday Night Football, and now all attention turns to Sunday. The Washington Commanders are dealing with several big names on their injury report this week, and officially ruled out quarterback Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin on Friday.

Daniels, who missed Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders with a knee sprain, was limited in practice Wednesday. “He is doing everything you possibly can to get there,” head coach Dan Quinn said. While he said he felt good, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Daniels was pushing to play, but was not cleared by doctors. Marcus Mariota will start his second straight game for Washington.

As for McLaurin, Daniels’ top target, Quinn said McLaurin getting a second opinion on his quad injury is “normal,” but McLaurin also didn’t practice again on Friday. Quinn called McLaurin “week-to-week” on Friday.

Other notable Week 4 injuries:

  • San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has missed each of the last two weeks with shoulder and toe injuries, but things do appear to be trending in the right direction for a potential Week 4 return. Purdy had a limited practice on Thursday. “Another day where he was able to get out there, do some stuff,” coach Kyle Shanahan said on KNBR, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. “I think it’s feeling better each day, and if that continues, he should be good on Sunday.”

  • New York Giants standout wide receiver Malik Nabers and starting tight end Theo Johnson were both limited participants in Thursday’s practice, but Nabers came off the injury report Friday and is good to go against the Chargers. Nabers was dealing with a shoulder issue, while Johnson is working through a toe injury.

  • New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields practiced for the first time Thursday since sustaining a concussion in a Week 2 loss to the Bills. Jets coach Aaron Glenn said that if Fields clears concussion protocol, he’ll start against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
