Christ Fit is a not-profit gym in Edmond, where everyone is welcome to participate in workouts and classes at no cost.
Each day at the gym starts with bible study, and today was no different.
“Life is up and downs and it doesn’t matter if you’re a believer or not, life can still hit you in the gut,” said director of the gym, Stephen Davenport.
Daily challenges are a part of life; however, today’s journey would prove to be a huge challenge emotionally and physically.
“We literally just carry a cross for one hundred miles. It’s a thirty-six to forty-eight-hour event depending on how fast or how slow we go,” said Davenport.
Walkers will walk through the night and into tomorrow, making the one-hundred-mile track, so if you see them, give them a honk for support or even better at any point you can come out and join them.
“Maybe one person wakes up and just says, God show that you’re real, and they see a cross walking down the side of the road,” said Davenport.
Encouraging the drivers that pass by as the walkers encourage each other.
“It could be you know, why does God allow hard things to happen,” said Davenport.
A one-hundred-mile challenge simulating the encouragement of real relationships.
“If you’re in that group and you’re by yourself and you’re at mile thirty, and you’re just miserable, get with somebody, because they are going to uplift you,” said Davenport.
Walkers take frequent breaks and only walk the distance that they are comfortable with.
“You can walk for an hour and then hop in the van and come back. Like I said, if you have an hour or two hours to spare, come on we’d love to have you,” said Davenport
To join the walkers simply call the transportation shuttle (318) 773-2437 and they will transport you to and from the walker’s location
