The city of Tualatin recently awarded $50,000 in funding as part of its annual Outside Agency Grant program to 19 nonprofit agencies that serve the community.

The program provides financial support to charitable nonprofit agencies that align with the Tualatin City Council’s 2030 Vision, which includes fostering a connected, prosperous, equitable and environmentally conscious community with a sustainable, diverse economy and vibrant gathering spaces.

Family Promise of Tualatin Valley, a nonprofit organization that serves local homeless families, received $5,250, the most the city dispensed to a single organization this year.

The organization runs Bridge to Home Shelter in Tigard, the largest shelter for families experiencing homelessness in Washington County.

Other recipients and funding received include: Family Peace Center, $4,500; Bordland Free Clinic, $4,000; Domestic Violence Resource Center, $2,250; Community Partners for Affordable Housing, $2,000; Pili Group, $2,000; Ride Connection, $2,000;

Just Compassion, $1,000; Love Inc. of Tigard, Tualatin and Sherwood, $500; and Community Warehouse, $500.

Tualatin received 21 application requests from organizations requesting a total of $100,873, according to city officials.
“The Outside Agency Grant Program serves as a vital bridge connecting the city of Tualatin with community-based organizations that address residents’ most pressing needs,” Mayor Frank Bubenik said in a statement. “By channeling financial resources into these areas, I believe we can make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of all Tualatin residents.”

Bubenik said the grants enable “crucial financial lifelines that represent crucial financial lifelines that enable them to expand services, reach more residents, and sustain programs that might otherwise face budget constraints.”
