The Life of a Showgirl is a new movie about Taylor Swift and it opens up in theaters this Friday, October 3rd. If you didn’t know about the movie, you’re not alone. Theaters were given a short notice as well. Valley Cinema’s Twin Owner Chris Anderson says the short notice was unusual.
“This is coming to theaters. It was just put on us. We didn’t have any literature, any trailers, you know it’s just…she was kind of the way she does things you know, it’s her way.”
It appears the short release time is one of Taylor Swift’s marketing strategies, but Anderson says the short notice could potentially backfire.
“You know she might have missed the mark here if you know a lot of people don’t know and haven’t been hearing about it and if it doesn’t do as well as we thought then she should have given us a little bit more range.”
Movie Theaters traditionally experience a lull this time of the year. This movie is expected to be a financial boost. This is Swift’s 12 album, so she set the price of the movie at $12, and Anderson says fans likely won’t flinch.
“$12 is a good price for Taylor Swift. They pay hundreds, and hundreds, and hundreds of dollars for her concerts and even in the thousands probably for her concerts so I’m thinking $12 is right in the market, right in the fair market.”
Valley Cinema’s Manager Devan Durkee tells us what you might experience during the showing of the movie.
“The whole point of these movies and her shows is for you to engage with them as well. Even though this is more of a behind the scenes look of her music videos and behind the scenes like backgrounds, set photos and stuff like that, there are still the music videos that kids and families and people my age are going to want to get up and dance and sing with. We say go ahead.”
If you’d like to watch the Taylor Swift movie, you can catch it at Valley Cinema’s on Friday, October 3rd at 3pm, 5pm, 7pm, and 9pm. Saturday and Sunday at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm, and 9pm.
