Jennifer Aniston made rare comments about her fertility journey in a new interview.

After years of pregnancy speculation and unfounded rumors that her dedication to her career led to the breakdown of her marriage to Brad Pitt in 2005, Jennifer first addressed the topic head-on with Allure in 2022. “I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it,” she said at the time. “I just cared about my career. And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies. I don’t have anything to hide at this point.”

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Jennifer discussed the tabloid scrutiny head-on. “They didn’t know my story, or what I’d been going through over the past 20 years to try to pursue a family, because I don’t go out there and tell them my medical woes,” she began.

“That’s not anybody’s business. But there comes a point when you can’t not hear it – the narrative about how I won’t have a baby, won’t have a family, because I’m selfish, a workaholic. It does affect me – I’m just a human being. We’re all human beings. That’s why I thought, ‘What the hell?’” she continued.

As for why she decided to speak out, Jennifer said it was “because I knew a lot of women at the time who were trying to have kids, who were dealing with IVF. So it did feel like it was not only for myself, but for any women who were struggling with the same issue.”

Though tabloid culture has become less prevalent in recent years, Jen worries about the transference of negativity to social media: “So now any schmuck can stay anonymous and write whatever the hell they want to write.”
