Reality television star Nicole Polizzi, widely known as “Snooki,” made a surprise visit to Red Rose Pizzeria in Springfield last weekend.

Polizzi, along with her podcast co-host, Joey Camasta, and friends, visited the Italian restaurant on Oct. 4, shortly after gambling at MGM Springfield.

According to a recount on her podcast, “It’s Happening with Snooki & Joey,” a friend initially went into the restaurant to get a slice of pizza, only to discover the spot is a full-service eatery. The group then decided to go in and stay.

Red Rose Pizzeria owner Rita Caputo-Capua said she had an extended chat with the stars, who settled at a high-top table with prosecco in hand.

“We just had an absolute blast at the table,” Caputo-Capua told MassLive. “[Polizzi] was just so pleasant. They all were. We just had a blast, just laughed and laughed and laughed.”

The group ordered appetizers such as calamari, antipasto, and garlic bread with cheese. Caputo-Capua also brought out meatballs as a joke, referencing Polizzi’s other project, “The Meatball Pod.”

The main course was a medium cheese pizza, accompanied by Aperol spritzes and champagne.

The group, which also invited their driver to eat with them, stayed for nearly two hours. Caputo-Capua added that they praised the food and asked her to visit them in New York for cocktails.

“It’s like the best, like cute Italian institution. It’s not a cute thing. It’s a big place,” Camasta said on the podcast. “They have like tons of people, tons of rooms with amazing staff. The food was phenomenal.”

Polizzi, 37, first gained fame in 2009 on the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore” when she was 22 years old, according to The Republican.

Snooki became a cultural phenomenon known for her leopard-print fashion and iconic ‘pouf’ hairstyle. In 2010, while “Jersey Shore” was drawing in about 5.5 million views a week, The Associated Press reported that Snooki was one of the most popular Halloween costumes that year.

After “Jersey Shore” ended in 2012, Polizzi went on to star in numerous other reality TV shows, including “Snooki & Jwoww,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “The New Celebrity Apprentice,” and, most recently, “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,” which is in its eighth season on MTV.

Polizzi is married to former “Jersey Shore” co-star Jionni LaValle. She has three children — her oldest is 13 — and she loves her “mommy duties,” she said in an interview with The Republican.

A successful entrepreneur, Polizzi owns The Snooki Shop, a chain of clothing boutiques for which she curates the merchandise, and runs Messy Mawma Wine, among several other business ventures. She has authored several books, including New York Times bestsellers “A Shore Thing,” “Confessions of a Guidette” and “Gorilla Beach.”

Polizzi and Camasta’s “It’s Happening with Snooki & Joey” podcast has produced more than 200 episodes, which dive into everything from celebrity gossip to personal stories, pop culture and other trending topics.
