As you venture deeper into the lands of Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles, you’ll note your heroes becoming more powerful. Their HP and MP increase, as do their JP, allowing you to unlock additional abilities. But two stats aren’t readily explained: Bravery and Faith. What are they, and how do they affect your units in Final Fantasy Tactics? We’ll explain!

Now that you know more about Bravery and Faith, don’t forget to check out our other guides:

What is Bravery in Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles?

Bravery is, as it sounds, a measurement of how brave your unit is in the face of battle. If they have a low Bravery, the unit is more likely to turn tail and run, thanks to the Chicken debuff. If this occurs, then they’re more likely to avoid combat, skipping turns and missing attacks.

If a unit’s Bravery drops to 5, they’ll desert your group once the battle concludes.

What is Faith in Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles?

As for Faith, it’s a potent attribute that affects the damage output of Magick attacks in damage-dealing spellcasters. For healers, Faith affects the efficiency of Restoration Magick, allowing the unit to heal a unit for additional HP.

Unfortunately, it’s the converse of Bravery, as a high Faith stat may lead the unit to desert, too. If Faith reaches 95 or more, the unit will succumb to a higher calling and leave the group to pursue their faith.

How to Raise and Lower Bravery and Faith in Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles

When you recruit a new unit, they come with a preordained amount of Bravery and Faith. These numbers will increase or decrease over time due to battle outcomes and abilities.

If you want a hand in raising or lowering Bravery, in your own party or the enemy’s, then consider the following abilities:

  • Shout (Increases Bravery)
  • Steel (Increases Bravery)
  • Threaten (Lowers Bravery)

As for Faith, you can raise the attribute with the following abilities:

  • Preach (Orator)
  • Faith Boost (Bard)
