LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – Residents are invited to celebrate community spirit on Sunday, Oct. 5, when the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office partners with local organizations for a Faith & Blue block party along Great Mills Road.
The free event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. at the District 4 Station, the Church of the Ascension, and the St. Mary’s County Health Hub. Organizers say the block party is part of National Faith & Blue Weekend, a nationwide effort to build stronger connections between police officers and the communities they serve.
Families can expect an afternoon filled with kid-friendly activities, including pumpkin painting, face painting, balloon animals, and games with prizes. A “Touch A Truck” display will give children the chance to meet first responders and explore emergency vehicles. Live entertainment, giveaways, a cake walk, and book handouts are also on the schedule.
Hot dogs, shaved ice, and other treats will be available, and guests are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food donation for the Church of the Ascension Food Pantry as the price of admission.
Sheriff’s officials emphasized that the event is designed not only as a fun gathering but as a way to strengthen trust and cooperation between residents, faith groups, and law enforcement.
