EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns visited Evans for a Faith and Flag event, drawing a packed crowd at Pizza Central.
Burns, who represents part of Saluda County in District 159, used the appearance to preview the upcoming 2026 legislative session.

“It’s going to be jam-packed, and we’re looking forward to really focusing on our priorities as health care, education,” Burns said. “School safety was and still remains a top priority for us. And certainly in the health care space, mental health is so very important to us.”
Burns also praised Augusta’s role as a leader in Georgia, highlighting the city’s medical institutions.
“When you look at Augusta University, the Medical College of Georgia, our medical school of the Medical College of Georgia, Children’s Hospital of Georgia, it’s just so important in so many different varieties,” Burns said.
