OROVILLE, Calif. — Golden Valley Bank in Oroville celebrated its 20th anniversary by announcing a $100,000 donation to local nonprofits. The bank, established as a locally owned and managed community partner, is awarding grants to honor its two decades of service to the Northstate community.
“What we’re doing is we’re targeting some of the nonprofits that aren’t necessarily the marquee nonprofits, but they put in a lot of work, and they contribute a lot to their communities,” Mark Francis, president and CEO of Golden Valley Bank.
And we want to recognize those folks who don’t always get the recognition they deserve.
Francis and his wife, Jolene, initiated the fund with a $50,000 donation. The remaining funds were gathered through contributions from Golden Valley Bank employees, board members, and founders. “So every employee, many of our shareholders, lots of different people who are founders of the bank have participated in this from the beginning,” said Laurie Kee, chief banking officer for Golden Valley Bank.
The $100,000 will be divided among five recipients, each receiving $20,000. The first grant was awarded on Sept. 25 to the State Theatre Arts Guild, the nonprofit behind the Oroville State Theatre.
“We want to be able to add more programming for children and arts and artists, and this will help enable us to be able to offer those at lower costs or more programming,” said Cindy Daniluke, executive director for the State Theatre Arts Guild.
The bank plans to announce the recipient of the second grant next month in Redding.
