The Gist

  • The world is constantly interested in Jennifer Aniston’s beauty secrets which, fortunately, she’s willing to share.

  • In a new interview, Aniston spoke about how, at 56, she and her body finally “love each other now.”

  • “You have to really honor where your body is, which I’ve gotten so much better at as I’ve gotten older,” she said.

Jennifer Aniston, like all of us, is on a journey of continual body acceptance, saying in a new interview that, at 56, she and her body “love each other now” and that she’s become “stronger than I’d ever thought.”

The actress told People that with age she has become “smarter about how I’m working out,” telling the outlet, “You have to really honor where your body is, which I’ve gotten so much better at as I’ve gotten older.”

As a working actress, she admitted that she has a “schedule that’s always a moving target,” and she also listens to what her body needs when it comes to working out (and, sometimes, not). “There’s nothing wrong with giving it what it needs as opposed to making it perform when it doesn’t want to,” Aniston said. “There’s no problem, no guilt there.”

Aniston said that in her 50s she’s “much gentler” on her body, adding that for her personally, “strength training has made the biggest difference.”

“As I’ve become more educated about the body over the years, I’ve been able to become stronger than I’d ever thought,” The Morning Show star said.

“I used to think a workout meant you just got to sweat for an hour to 45 minutes, whether it’s running around a room, doing aerobics, or running on a treadmill—45 minutes of cardio,” Aniston told People. “Otherwise, it’s useless. I’m just so grateful that’s not true.”

The world is constantly looking for Aniston’s beauty secrets, and one of them? Don’t work out alone all the time. “I prefer a group workout so much more than a solo workout,” she said.

As for staying motivated, sometimes Aniston just has to convince herself to “Just put your clothes on” and go from there. “Put your workout pants on,” she said. “Sometimes those workout pants stay on, and I’ve not gone even close to the gym, but it’s okay. It’s one step closer to doing it. Then it’s just like, ‘Oh, this is my cute look for the day.’”

Another motivation hack? “I will say to myself, ‘You can do anything for 20 minutes,’” she said. “If I’m not feeling motivated—if it’s not about fatigue and it’s not about feeling like, ‘Oh, that feels a little sore today’—and it’s just about motivation, I just have to say, ‘You can do anything for 20 minutes. You will feel so much better.’”

Speaking to Glamour last month, Aniston said, “as far as aging gracefully, I have an eternal fountain of optimism and positivity. Call it youth if you want.”

Speaking about her dedication to working out, she added, “But I think it all starts with how we love our bodies and love where we are.”

As for her diet, Aniston said in May 2024 that “It’s usually a lot of high protein, vegetables, salads, soups, and then everything I would possibly want on a weekend. I always give myself a cheat day.”

Cheat day meals are typically Mexican food, with the actress describing it as a “real favorite of mine.” If not Mexican, it’s “a cheeseburger or pizza or pasta—all that stuff,” she said.

As for her beauty routine, she “maintains” her appearance with “facials and lasers and all that good stuff,” Aniston told Glamour.

“I mean, I’m maintained,” she said. “I’m not going to just go down and let these gray hairs take over.”
