KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A groundbreaking sports bar dedicated to women’s athletics is preparing to open its doors in The Crossroads next week, marking a first for the metro area.
The Dub, located at 9th and Baltimore, will officially open at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 16, welcoming fans to what co-owner Monica Brady describes as a traditional sports bar with a unique twist — most games on the televisions will focus on women’s sports.
“We have been through the ups and downs of opening a small business, but all the people that have helped us through it, the community that has rallied around us to get us to this point, and just the fans that are so ready for us to open and support us — we’re just so ready to open our doors and welcome them in,” Brady said.
The women-owned establishment features memorabilia surrounding the Kansas City Current, and Brady said all Current games will be shown at The Dub. The concept represents a growing trend across the country, combining the familiar sports bar atmosphere with a dedicated focus on female athletics.

While The Dub’s ultimate goal is to become Kansas City’s go-to spot for women’s sports, Brady emphasized the bar welcomes all sports fans and hopes to introduce them to new teams and athletes.
“You’ll be able to get a good cocktail, a good glass of wine, a freshly made sandwich, salad, appetizers, really tasty foods and drinks while you build your community, watch women’s sports, and really celebrate those athletes that deserve our eyes on their games,” Brady said.

As Kansas City’s first women’s sports bar, Brady believes The Dub represents the beginning of a larger movement, expecting more establishments just like hers will follow.
