Kevin Federline is weighing in on ex-wife Britney Spears’ highly talked about social media posts.
In an excerpt of Federline’s upcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew, the former backup dancer, 47, claimed that the pop star, 43 — whom he was married to from 2004 to 2007 — was not sober when filming some of her now-infamous Instagram dance videos.
“With her newfound freedom, I saw history repeating itself,” Federline remarked in the audiobook per Us Weekly, referring to the period after the “Toxic” singer’s 13-year conservatorship ended in 2021.
“Her social media posts became more erratic,” he noted. “There were the infamous videos of her dancing with knives, cryptic rants, and wild behavior that was impossible to ignore. It didn’t take a rehab counselor to see that she was high in many of those videos.”

As the National Enquirer previously reported, Kevin, who shares sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with Spears, also sounded alarm bells in his book about the Grammy Winner’s overall well-being.
“The truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible,” he wrote, per The New York Times.
“From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour,” Kevin continued. “Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”
However, a representative for Spears shared a statement with People on Tuesday, October 14, addressing Federline’s controversial book.
“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” the statement read. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir [The Woman in Me].”
You Thought You Knew hits shelves Tuesday, October 21.
