Insiders recently revealed that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have left behind the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles and have started to live a quiet life. Back in LA, the pair were riddled with controversy and problematic behavior, but now? Locals are telling a different story.
A local pub source told People, “They come in regularly, they are really chilled and very polite. They come in with their dogs, sometimes on their own and sometimes with other people.”
Another source added, “[Ellen’s] so nice and very down to earth. It’s a small village so of course everyone gossips, but I haven’t heard a single bad thing.” And a third one added, “They were [at our pub] for about an hour or so last year and were discreet. They had a drink and left, no fuss.”
Earlier this year, insiders told UsWeekly: “It’s a different lifestyle for her. She’s very chill and in her element.” So it’s clear their UK move has changed them.

For those who don’t know, DeGeneres and Rossi met back in 2001 at a Rock the Vote concert. However, they didn’t get together until 2004. When they reconnected in 2004, they split with their respective partners, and they started dating. The pair later got engaged, and married in Aug 2008.
After Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, DeGeneres and Rossi left all of their California properties behind to move to the UK, later confirming the election was the reason why.
“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in.’ And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here,’” she said, confirming they’re done with the US. “We moved here in November, which was not the ideal time, but I saw snow for the first time in my life. We love it here. Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens, and we had sheep for about two weeks.”
