MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (7News) — The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is giving $1 million in Technical Assistance Grants (TAG) to help 38 projects across 16 jurisdictions, including Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening local nonprofits and community revitalization efforts. The grants will fund projects focused on affordable housing, small business support, and community wealth building.

In Montgomery County, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County will receive $25,000 to support home repairs for people in need.

In Prince George’s County, Housing Initiative Partnership, Inc., will receive $15,000 to fund a new three-year strategic plan designed to increase sustainable programming and affordable housing production.

A majority of the Prince George’s County funding will also go toward programs at the University of Maryland, College Park, supporting community development and technical assistance initiatives.

“These 38 awards represent meaningful positive change in communities across the state, supporting diverse projects from small business assistance to housing construction,” said DHCD Secretary Jake Day. “We’re proud to invest in projects that help create more lovable places and stronger economies across Maryland.”

The TAG programs help local governments and nonprofits advance housing, homeownership, and economic revitalization goals through professional development and planning support.
