MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Montgomery County sheriff is kicking off National Faith and Blue Weekend with a special prayer service Thursday.
National Faith and Blue Weekend is a time law enforcement officers around the country set aside to work on building bridges in order to build more inclusive communities. The idea is to facilitate safer and stronger communities by connecting local residents with the men and women who serve to protect them through the connections of faith-based organizations.
A number of activities are planned over the next few days that are designed to build a mutual respect and understanding.
Sheriff Derrick Cunningham is kicking off the weekend with a special prayer service Thursday, with prayers for unity, victims of crime, along with prayers for public safety officials and those leading our state, county, and city.
The Faith and Blue prayer service is set for 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Parking lot on Perry Street.
