WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – For the Puent family, there’s no greater motivation than the competition that comes with siblinghood. In a family built on a shared love of sports, it was only a matter of time before the Puent quadruplets found their own stages to shine.
“We started doing just YMCA stuff, but then we got into basketball, football, and track,” Griffin Puent said. “So it’s kind of just gone on from there.”
“They kind of put us in young, so that we would all just find sports that we liked,” Damien Puent said. “Now, we all like the same ones.“
Brothers Damien, Everett, and Griffin team up to shred the Gridiron. Their sister Addison makes her own way, running the tennis courts; all four Puents, working together to make their last year competing for the Fighting Cardinals, memorable.
“I mean, it’s kind of hard to think that it’s almost over, but I mean just finish strong and leave it all out on the field,” Griffin Puent said.
A four-athlete void, football Head Coach Paul Michlig says, will be felt in the halls of Newman Catholic next year.
“It’s kind of crazy to think that they’re seniors and it’s dying down here, and it goes fast,” Michlig said. “To have four of them, and to have them leave at the same time. is going to be a hit for Newman itself.”
Luckily for the Puents, the fall marks just the start of their senior seasons. In a few weeks, they will all gear up for basketball, and after that, track and field.
