The PATH Foundation recently awarded more than $1.2 million in its latest round of Flexible Funding grants to 54 nonprofit organizations serving the Fauquier County area.
The grants are intended to support organizations whose missions align with the foundation’s four priority areas: access to health, childhood wellness, mental health and senior services. All grantees “demonstrated alignment with the foundation’s mission and values,” according to a PATH Foundation news release.
The Fauquier Community Food Bank and Thrift Store received a 2025 Flexible Funding grant to continue providing food assistance to county families amid what the organization described as a “dramatic uptick” in need, particularly among older adults and families.
“The Fauquier Community Food bank continues to see growth in our daily numbers with new families who are struggling because of the increase in groceries, childcare and the cost of living,” Sharon Ames, executive director of the food bank, said in the release. “Some days we serve 45 families, other days can be 60-plus families. Remember, food insecurity can be your neighbor, your co-worker or even your school staff. They can come from all walks of life; the need is here in Fauquier County.”
Ames added, “With the greatest appreciation we feel honored that with the PATH Foundation grant we can fulfill our mission to continue feeding the food insecure families of Fauquier County.”
The Flexible Funding grant cycle offers up to $75,000 in unrestricted general operating support for nonprofit organizations in Fauquier, Rappahannock and Culpeper counties. The funds may be used as needed to help organizations meet their missions and serve local populations most in need.
