Taylor Swift is teasing her fiancé Travis Kelce on national television. On Wednesday night, the pop star appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers to promote her new album The Life of a Showgirl and shared the funniest anecdote about an interaction Kelce had with a fellow celebrity during one of her Eras Tour shows.
During a June 2024 show, Kelce met Hugh Grant and his wife, Anna Eberstein, in the VIP tent and mistook the actor’s wife for Greta Gerwig, the director of Barbie, whom Swift had said would be at the show that night. While talking Eberstein, Kelce even made a joke about the Oscar-nominated film saying, “I’m just Ken” while pointing to Swift on stage.
He continued to tell Swift that she just politely nodded but didn’t seem to appreciate the joke. As he went on describing the night, he told Swift that Grant and Gerwig were dancing and joking together the whole time and seemed like “soulmates.”
“The tea is crazy tonight, Travis,” she told him.
Swift soon saw videos online of Kelce dancing the night away with Gerwig. When she pointed that out to him, he answered, “Oh, that’s not Greta.” Swift put two and two together that Kelce had mixed up Gerwig with Grant’s wife Eberstein.
Swift then explained to her fiancé that he had, in fact, made the Barbie comment to the wrong person, but at least he had been spot on about Grant dancing with his soulmate.
“The good thing is he recognized true love,” Meyers quipped “He saw soulmates, and he knew you were soulmates.”
For the appearance, the pop star looked radiant in a matching Wiederhoeft set, featuring a strapless floral corset and matching miniskirt. Her blonde hair was styled in a half-up ponytail with face-framing strands and her signature bangs.
