UTICA, N.Y. — A new play, “Utica Boo,” is set to entertain audiences with a mix of local history, food and mystery.
The Oneida County History Center announced that performances will take place at 1608 Genesee St. on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m.
The play, written by local author Dennis Webster and directed by Deborah Martin, will feature the ghosts of historical figures like Roscoe Conkling and Roxalana Druse.
The whodunit feature also features local dishes like Chicken Riggies and tomato pie.
“The story follows Brittany, a Utica historian, who aims to clarify misconceptions about these ghosts while introducing them to regional cuisine. As a thrilling mystery unfolds, the audience tries to guess the killer. This play combines history, mystery and local pride,” according to OCHS.
Rebecca McLain, executive director of the History Center, said, “We are thrilled to bring Dennis Webster’s exciting new work, under the direction of Deborah Martin, to our stage.”
Tickets can be purchased at the Oneida County History Center or online.
