SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Edited News Release/KY3) – The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame announced it will relocate to a more centrally located site within Springfield after selling its building.

Museum leaders sold the Hall of Fame building at Highland Springs Country Club. Staff and the museum itself will move to a downtown Springfield facility on West Walnut Street while officials evaluate permanent locations.

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame opened in 1994 and has honored the state’s most accomplished athletes, coaches, and contributors while preserving Missouri’s sporting heritage.

Museum leaders said relocating to central Springfield represents a strategic step forward that will position the museum to serve better residents, visitors, and partners throughout the state.

“Relocation presents an opportunity not only to expand our footprint, but also to strengthen our ability to engage with the public, broaden our educational programming, and deliver a more dynamic and accessible museum experience,” said Rob Marsh, president and CEO of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. “This effort underscores our dedication to preserving Missouri’s sports legacy while positioning the Hall of Fame for future growth and sustainability.”

The organization is evaluating multiple site options for a permanent home. The future facility will provide expanded exhibit space, modern amenities, and the capacity to host special events, educational initiatives, and broader community engagement opportunities.

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame has been closed to visitors for nearly four years due to necessary building renovations.
