The sequel film Godzilla vs. Kong continues the story after the clash between the 2 legendary titans in the previous installment. In the brand new film, the 2 must come together to face “a colossal, undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their existence – and our own.”

Henry returns as technician and conspiracy theorist Bernie Hayes, who’s once more recruited to assist save the world when a brand new threat arises. For Henry, starring in these monster movies is a dream come true. Recalling his childhood, he told us: “My problem was that once I watched monster movies, I had a floor TV back then… you understand, I used to be sitting too close. Like I’m all the time sitting really near the screen and turning them up.”

“I mean, they’ve all the time been there, right? They are part of our structure,” he explained. “It’s part of cinema, period. It has been over 100 years since these creatures existed.

With these latest movies, the tradition of monster movies can proceed, but in an “elevated” way, and Henry said they are often movies “for people who probably thought, ‘We don’t really watch ‘Godzilla’ like that,” but now they’re like, “Oh, we actually like this ‘Godzilla.’

Both Henry and Stevens shared how they refined and humanized their characters in the film. Stevens explained that he thought they “kind of figured it out on set.”

“I obviously knew who Bernie was from the previous movie,” Stevens said, “but we created kind of a new movie and brought these two characters from very different worlds, just like Brian and I, but we found that they actually had a lot in common common as people, and then, you know, I find that with the characters as well.”

Henry explained that the “MonsterVerse” movies are about greater than just monsters, saying that “it’s really like holding a mirror up to society, relationships and who we are.”

“In the first part it was ‘Godzilla vs. Kong,’ right,” he added. “So we just wanted to see the battle. We just wanted to see these two. But in this case it’s like, well, what will it look like when none of this matters anymore? Who are we when we unite? What does reunification really look like? What does a family look like? How do we fight for what we truly believe in?”

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” from Warner Bros. Pictures will only hit theaters on Friday, March 29.
