SEWARD, Neb. — Concordia University, Nebraska, recently hosted “The Power of Story: Strengthening Faith Through Literacy,” an event aimed at fostering faith through storytelling. The event, held on Sept. 25, featured special guests Peggy Kuethe and Lisa Clark from Concordia Publishing House and included participation from kindergarten through fifth-grade students, faculty, and staff from select Seward-area Christian schools. Dr. Bernard Bull, president of Concordia Nebraska, emphasized the historical significance of storytelling in nurturing faith, stating, “Since the beginning, God’s people have used stories to teach, guide, inspire, encourage and nurture the faith of the next generation.” Deb Jurchen, director of University Institutes, highlighted the event’s impact, saying, “The event not only nurtured a love of reading and the creative process, but also deepened connections of faith and community that we pray will continue to grow long after the day is over.” The event was presented by Concordia University, Nebraska Institute for Literacy, which aims to explore the intersection of Christian faith and life through the written word.
