Exchange Club of Charleston awards nearly $950K to local nonprofits from fair proceeds
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — The Exchange Club of Charleston held a community service day awards luncheon on Thursday.
The event was dedicated to recognizing 73 local non-profit groups that were awarded grants from the fair and other efforts.
The club presented awards that totaled nearly $950,000. The Exchange Club has been running the Coastal Carolina Fair since the 1950s. The fair is the club’s primary fundraiser, and all of the profits go to people and organizations doing good in the community. Cyndi Roberts, with Doors to Freedom, says it’s important for Lowcountry residents to go to the Coastal Carolina Fair because it comes right back to the community.

“When you purchase a ticket to the fair, know that this club makes sure that local nonprofits are receiving that money back into your community and those local nonprofits are helping your neighbors,” Roberts said. “And that is such a blessing because a lot of communities don’t have this.”
This money was earned during the 2024 fair through more than 13,000 hours of labor.
