The Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered their game Sunday knowing they would have to be on point, as they would be playing without two of their key players, Mike Evans and Bucky Irving.
They started well on both offense and defense, being up for most of the game. However, the Seattle Seahawks began to make a push back in the game. Star rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka had a standout performance, recording 163 yards and a touchdown, while helping Baker Mayfield throw for 379 yards and two touchdowns.
With the game tied 35-35 with two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold threw an interception to the Buccaneers’ defense. This allowed Tampa to score the walk-off field goal for the win, putting them at a record of 4-1.
Along with Baker Mayfield’s win in the league this week, six consecutive former Sooner quarterbacks — Mayfield, Kyler Murray, Jalen Hurts, Spencer Rattler, Caleb Williams, and Dillon Gabriel — all started in the NFL, marking the first time in league history that so many OU products have opened under center in the same week. This historic event resulted in nearly 19% of the league’s quarterbacks being Sooner alumni.
