SCHOFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) – The outcome was not what the Milwaukee Brewers and Brewers fans wanted to see Wednesday night. But it stayed interesting enough to keep fans at Hoehn’s Huddle on the edges of their seats.
Brewers fans kept their spirits high throughout the game. The energy in the bar had people cheering for the Brewers’ successes and Cubs’ flubs all game long, creating an experience that staff at the bar and grill hope helps everyone enjoy the moment.
“It’s the reason I bought a bar, said Dan Hoehn, owner of Hoehn’s Huddle. ”It truly is.”
Even on an early Wednesday evening, Hoehn’s Huddle has seats being filled for a reason. The playoff atmosphere brings out fans eager to share the experience with fellow supporters.
“Everyone gets more excited and wants to partake in the enjoyment here at the sports bars,” Hoehn said.
Michaela Hawthorn, the front of house manager at the bar, added, “People get off work, they’re ready to watch the game, have a beer, eat some good food.”
Though Hoehn says the playoff experience in the bar is like no other, he adds that it is a familiar feeling.
“The atmosphere is like a Packers game, and it’s unbelievable. It kind of reminds me of the ’21 season with the Bucks,” said Hoehn.
Both fans and the bar staff are ready to see history be made. Staff at the Huddle want to keep their patrons excited and engaged throughout the postseason run.
“We are a sports bar, so obviously the fans get really intense, really involved, and we like to do what we can to contribute to that atmosphere because it’s something you feel when you walk in the building. It’s something in the air during playoff season,” Hawthorn said.
The bar offers special deals to enhance the experience, including deals on food and drinks.
“We do free Jell-O shots for every Brewer’s home run. The fans love it. We love it,” Hawthorn said.
From watching a game with friends to making the game an outing with a child, Huddle staff recognize a playoff run like this is something not everyone gets to experience. They said a win this year — a win for legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker — is something that would mean more than anything to fans.
“I think that it’s one of those things that just feel right. Like, this is supposed to happen. This is his legacy. This is what the Brewers are pushing so hard for this year,” Hawthorn said.
Win or lose, they invite fans to come in for the memories.
“This might be historic, so it’s something we want to make memorable and enjoyable for everyone,” Hawthorn said.
The Brewers and Cubs will meet again in Chicago on Thursday. Hoehn’s Huddle will host fans to continue the playoff energy once again.
