US TONIGHT. THANKS. WITH THE ALL NEW FANDUEL SPORTS BOOK, YOU GET MORE WAYS TO COOK WITH LIVE BETTING. AS IT HAPPENS. DOWNLOAD SPORTS BETTING IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND. YOU CAN’T DO IT IN WISCONSIN RIGHT NOW, BUT THAT COULD SOON BE CHANGING. 12 NEWS IS LIVE FOR US TONIGHT AND T.J. LAWMAKERS ARE LOOKING TO CHANGE STATE LAW. WELL LISTEN IF YOU WANT TO GAMBLE RIGHT NOW ON SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE ATHLETES OR SPORTS TEAMS, YOU HAVE TO DO IT PHYSICALLY IN PERSON, SOME PLACE LIKE RIGHT HERE AT THE POTAWATOMI CASINO SPORTS BOOK. BUT A BIPARTISAN BILL IN MADISON IS PUSHING TO MAKE SPORTS BETTING AS EASY AS A SIMPLE CLICK. SINCE MAY 2024, THE ONLY PLACE FOR SPORTS BETTING IN WISCONSIN HAS BEEN AT TRIBAL CASINOS LIKE POTAWATOMI SPORTS BOOK AND MILWAUKEE. OUR WIVES HATE IT. BUT I MEAN, IN TERMS OF THE GUYS, WE ALL LIKE IT VERY POPULAR. I THINK IT’S DEFINITELY GOTTEN MORE POPULAR. LIKE NOWADAYS IT HAS BEFORE. NOW SOME STATE LAWMAKERS ARE BACKING A BIPARTISAN BILL TO MAKE GAMBLING ON TOUCHDOWNS AND HOME RUNS AS EASY AS CHECKING THE SCORE. WE’RE IN THE 21ST CENTURY AND 2025 WHERE EVERYTHING IS ON OUR PHONES AND OUR COMPUTERS. WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT. IF PASSED, THE BILL WOULD LET PEOPLE IN WISCONSIN PLACE BETS ONLINE SO LONG AS THE SERVERS OPERATING THE SYSTEM ARE LOCATED ON TRIBAL LAND, IT MAKES IT A LOT MORE ACCESSIBLE. THERE’S A LOT MORE GAMBLING TO NOW. THE BILL DOES NOT APPLY TO POPULAR SPORTS BETTING APPS LIKE DRAFTKINGS AND FANDUEL. IF YOU TRY TO ACCESS THOSE APPS HERE IN WISCONSIN, IT BRINGS YOU TO A NOTIFICATION SAYING IT’S NOT AVAILABLE IN THE STATE AND THEN TAKES YOU TO A LINK OF THE STATES THAT IT IS. BUT IF A TRIBAL CASINO WANTS TO LAUNCH A GAMBLING APP OR WEBSITE, THE LEGISLATION GIVES IT THE GREEN LIGHT. WISCONSIN SHOULD BENEFIT OFF OF THAT ANYWAY. SO WHAT’S THE ARGUMENT AGAINST IT? THE ARGUMENT AGAINST IT? THE EASIER TO GAMBLE, THE EASIER TO GET ADDICTED. IN A SURVEY BY THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MEDICINE, AS MANY AS 28% OF ONLINE GAMBLERS REPORTED IT’S EASIER TO SPEND MORE MONEY ONLINE, WHILE 15% CONSIDER ONLINE GAMBLING TO BE MORE ADDICTIVE THAN IN PERSON. EVERYTHING IS GOOD IN MODERATION. THAT’S TRUE IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING, IF YOU KNOW WHERE TO HOLD YOURSELF BACK, YOU’LL BE ALL RIGHT. AND SO T.J. YOU DID REACH OUT TO POTAWATOMI CASINO TO GET THEIR RESPONSE ON THIS. AND WE DID NOT HEAR BACK TONIGHT. BUT WE DID HEAR FROM THE FOREST COUNTY POTAWATOMI CHAIRMAN WHO SAID IN PART, QUOTE, THIS IS THE FIRST STEP IN BRINGING WISCONSIN IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE LARGE MAJORITY OF OTHER STATES WHO ALREADY OFFER MOBILE SPORTS WAGERING. THE AMERICAN GAMING ASSOCIATION SAYS WISCONSIN IS ONE OF 17 STATES WHERE IT’S CURRENTLY ILLEGAL. AL

However, popular online betting apps like DraftKings and FanDuel would not be included, as they currently notify users that their services are unavailable in Wisconsin and direct them to a website listing states where they are accessible.”It makes it a lot more accessible, there’s a lot more gambling, too,” Jon Davis said, The legislation would allow tribal casinos to launch their own gambling apps or websites.Smit Patel said, “We’re in the 21st century in 2025, where everything is on our phones and our computers, we should be able to do it.” Despite the potential benefits, concerns about gambling addiction remain.
