Two CNY nonprofits receive $57,200 in total to combat food insecurity


Two Central New York nonprofits have received funding from New York State to help support emergency food relief.

  • Seven Valleys Health Coalition, $56,000 — Fund the purchase of a pickup truck, bed topper for the truck and three insulated food storage containers. This equipment will help to expand two of their program’s Seven Valleys Food Rescue and Produce Prescription.
  • Westcott Community Center $1,200 –Support the purchase of a freezer that will allow the center to increase storage capacity at their food pantry.

The funding is part of more than $11 million to support emergency food relief for New Yorkers in need. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the funding on Friday.
